Craft Your Own AI Policy with Sarah Pita

Many nonprofits know they need an AI policy, but don't know where to start, or how to craft something that will genuinely support their team's needs. This session makes the case for acting now. There are real organizational risks and human costs to avoiding the question, and exciting potential that opens up once your team stops avoiding it and starts deciding on purpose.

Rather than handing you a template to fill out, this is a "choose your own adventure" approach to building a policy that actually fits your organization — adaptable, custom, and developed in-house. You'll leave knowing how to get started, what questions to answer, and what a functional, safe, living policy looks like when you do — one built to grow with your organization and keep pace with a fast-moving technology.

Today she uses AI tools daily for fundraising and communications, and speaks regularly on how nonprofit professionals can integrate AI into their work, including at AFP conferences in Philadelphia and New York, the Women in Development Forum, and nonprofit networks across the country.
